Position Overview: The Systems Administrator/Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day installation, configuration, and administration of Microsoft System Center 2012, inclusive of all the new features SCCM 2012, SCOM 2012, SCSM 2012, SCDPM 2012, SCVMM 2012 SCAC 2012, and SCO. The scope of the position is all encompassing, from client endpoints to servers and as it relates to OS & Application deployment, patching, reporting and backend Maintenance. 

Requirements:
  • Must have at least eight (8) years of experience in technical work in the major areas of system management and system integration.
  • At least five (5) years of knowledge and demonstrated technical proficiency in Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) with experience in managing medium to large environments.
  • The candidate should be able to troubleshoot all aspects of SCCM effectively and understand the product flow patch management, software distribution and logging in detail;
  • Experience in other Microsoft Management technologies, including Active Directory services (AD), Group Policies, Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) and/or System Center Operations Manager, System Center Essentials and WSUS is desired.
  • Specialized Experience: must possess 5+ years’ experience with the following:
  • Supporting Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008/2008 R2;
  • Implementing/managing workstation and server management platforms, OS Image deployment and maintenance, software and patch deployment, and related technologies;
  • Scripting with VBScript, Wise, Install Shield, PowerShell, SQL, ADSI and WMI.
  • Experience with SQL Server.
  • Experience with Application Deployments.

Required Education: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline. A Master’s Degree is preferred.

Responsibilities:
  • Verify database backups are complete and not corrupted.
  • Perform backups of all databases and data on daily, weekly, and monthly bases, including changing tapes and cleaning tape drives.
  • Add, change, and delete user groups and accounts, including network, internet, shared drive, and application access.
  • Answer user questions and provide guidance on system operation.
  • Troubleshoot and fix hardware and software issues.
  • Schedule such functions as scheduling backups and deploying software.
  • Set up and maintain automatic aging and archiving processes, and file imports from various sources.
  • Use automated tools to monitor operating systems to ensure they are optimally configured; make adjustments as necessary.
  • Use automated tools to monitor performance of physical and virtual servers and server clusters to proactively identify and fix potential issues and optimize the configuration.
  • Use automated tools to monitor integrity of the systems, perform preventive maintenance, and tune all servers and peripheral hardware.
  • Monitor available RAID on systems and optical jukebox space to proactively identify and fix potential issues and optimize the configuration.
  • Submit service requests (SRs) and change requests (CRs) for any new work to be done in any development, testing, or production environment.
  • Create or respond to SRs and CRs to fix any problems identified in a development, testing, or production environment.
  • Coordinate with vendors to address hardware and software warranty-related issues.
  • Coordinate database outage communications with client business units for system revisions, power outages, software upgrades, and fixes.
  • Research, evaluate. and recommend new technologies to meet changing business needs.
  • Document problems with software and hardware in Maximo Service Desk, including such service-related requests as software and hardware installations and other nonemergency requests.
  • Perform analysis to determine if problems are user or system errors.
  • Reboot database servers as necessary to correct performance issues.
  • Evaluate and recommend database hardware and software upgrades.
  • Test the restore process from database backups quarterly.
  • Monitor performance and size of SQL databases to proactively identify and fix potential issues and optimize the configuration.
  • Develop ad hoc queries and views in application databases.
  • Perform database reorganization, extent management, and rebuild indexes based on evaluation of daily database monitoring.
  • Develop and support new databases in response to new business requirements.
  • Rebuild database if corruption occurs.
  • Design, install, configure, and modify Microsoft SQL Server 2005, 2008, and 2012 Enterprise Edition databases.
  • Back up, restore, and move databases as dictated by business needs.
  • Set up replication, database mirroring, database mail, database alerts, and SQL agent jobs.
  • Provide solutions to implement high availability of SQL Server databases.
  • Upgrade databases to a higher version of SQL Server.
  • Maintain the integrity and security of databases, including defining who can use them, determining who is restricted from accessing one or more areas, setting up and removing users, and performing database auditing tasks.
  • Program databases using stored procedures, views, and user-defined functions and create packages using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Maintain appropriate and up-to-date documentation regarding the various databases and environments.
  • Work with technical and nontechnical staff to gather user requirements and develop scalable databases to meet those requirements.
  • Create a disaster recovery plan and test it annually.
  • Test database backups every six months to ensure data are retrievable.
  • Provide weekly status reports containing the following information: date submitted, TO title and number, manager name, dates of work performance period, recurring and nonrecurring tasks completed during the period, total number of service requests and change requests completed during the period, hours per task and total hours, outstanding risks, and issues and their resolution status
  • Complete test plans and document results for new applications and changes made to existing applications.
  • Complete inventory paperwork when equipment is moved or replaced.
  • Travel to various client locations, county offices, and VEIP stations as required.
  • Use Active Directory services, Group Policies, Microsoft Operations Manager, and System Center Operations Manager.
  • Support Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008/2008 R2.
  • Implementing and manage workstation and server management platforms, OS-image deployment and maintenance, software and patch deployment, and related technologies.
  • Write scripts using VBScript, Wise, Install Shield, PowerShell, SQL, ADSI, and WMI.
  • Use Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), including product flow patch management, software distribution, and logging.
  • Assist desktop support team with desktop OS deployment and automated build processes, including performance tuning.
  • Develop and execute enterprise workstation imaging and deployment methodologies.
  • Administer SQL Server, including supporting and developing queries and reports.
  • Install, configure, use, and maintain Microsoft System Center 2012 platform and its features
  • Troubleshoot installations and configurations of System Center 2012 infrastructure and its features within the suite, including SCCM and SCOP.
  • Assist with package, test, and deploy automated desktop and laptop application installations within SCCM framework.
  • Support the design and configuration of complex system landscapes.
  • Provide reports to management on the status of the enterprise.
  • Maintain a library of system-supporting processes and procedural documentation.
  • Serve as a resource for decision-making regarding SCCM standards, processes, and procedures; help create and maintain documentation.
  • Create customized ad hoc reports.
  • Produce weekly dashboard of SCCM data and root/cause analysis documents for outages, and report on progress to management.
  • Monitor and tune appropriate systems to ensure optimum level of performance.
