JOB TITLE: Data Specialist/Analyst
LOCATION:  Baltimore, MD
CONTRACT TERM: Long-Term
WORK SCHEDULE: 8:00am-5:00pm, except State Holidays.  A flexible schedule is required for potential support outside of normal work hours and workdays.

Overview:  The Data Specialist/Analyst supports our client’s Energy Management Information Systems team. Primary responsibilities include preparing XML data for import by creating/maintaining XSLT documents, data quality assurance tasks, writing custom VBA modules to streamline data import processes, authoring and maintaining Access databases used to track data receipt and processing the development and production of reports and graphics.  This is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as interpersonal and communication skills.
 

Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of other Office products including Microsoft Access.
  • Experience using VBA/VBScript to create validation rules and other program logic.
  • Ability to maintain/modify custom scripts for XML data transformations (XSLT)
  • Experience with document capture and imaging software (Kofax 10.1/KTM 6.1)
  • Prior experience or knowledge of Microsoft Access.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Detail oriented and results driven
  • Ability to grasp new concepts quickly
  • Strong communication skills and ability to multi-task and maintain/meet deadlines
  • Experience in energy/utility industry desired but not required
  • EnergyCap experience is desired but not required.


Responsibilities:

  • Excel VBA – Create functions/modules to prepare raw data for import and automate QA tasks.
  • XSLT/XML – Author and maintain documents to extract data from source files into comma-delimited file formats.
  • Kofax Capture – Create and maintain batch classes and program Kofax Transformation Modules Projects.
  • Access Database – Author, maintain, and track the lifecycle for data artifacts (receipt, loading, QA) and provides meaningful reports to management.
  • Analyze and verify large datasets (delimited data, high volume pdf processing, large spreadsheets) and document issues/provide suggestions to management.
  • Review/create audit reports and resolves errors to ensure data integrity
  • Download/import data files; manipulate and analyze large data sets using scripting and query tools
  • Responsible for preparing, loading, auditing, and correcting data imports
  • Create, implement, and maintain data file structures
