Position: Desktop Support Technician
Location: Baltimore, MD and various locations in the Baltimore Metro Area.
Work Hours: Monday Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm, except for State holidays

  • Assist client with ongoing repairs, images and deployment of laptop replacements, HP 8300 & 800 G1 PC replacements, Dell Wyse 5060 thin client installations, HP Network laser replacements, McAfee remediation, ForeScount/CounterAct remediation, Unmanaged devices remediation, and Tablet/Laptop updates.
  • Provide LANDesk Administration experience.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory/Group Policy
  • Perform business use of Microsoft Office 2007 Professional Suite.
  • Perform business use of McAfee Virus Scan, Adobe Acrobat, Photo Editor, Cisco VPN software, and imaging software.
  • Repair, install, upgrade, or reconfigure stand-alone and networked printers, standalone and networked scanners, modems.
  • Install and configure both Server O/S: Windows 2003 and 2008.
  • Install and configure any of the following Desktop O/S: Windows XP, VISTA, Windows 7;
  • Setup and install replacement laptops and PC s, copying the new image to the hard drives. Copy shortcuts and favorites from the user’s old PC to the network. Add the new PC to the client domain, copy shortcuts & favorites back, reinstall any specialized software that wasn’t part of the standard image, reinstall peripherals, and test the unit with the user.
  • Remove the old PC from the user s office and place it in the designated area. Remove the hard drive from the old PC and record the PC s property tag number on the hard drive before placing it in a designated box.
  • Complete the client s computer inventory form for each install. Record inventory information on the retired computer on our log form. Breakdown the shipping boxes and stack boxes and packing material in designated areas.
  • Reliable transportation driving to any of the install sites which are in the Baltimore Metro area. *Please note that a few departments may have a unique image that would be placed on a small number of PC s.
  • Working out of four (4) main staging locations but delivering equipment to multiple buildings.


  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline OR three (3) years of equivalent experience in a related field.
  • General Experience: This position requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience in business IT environments with an emphasis on PC hardware and applications. General experience includes information systems development, work in the client/server field, or related fields.
  • Specialized Experience: At least two (2) years comprehensive knowledge of PC operating systems, e.g., DOS, Windows, as well as work on a help desk. Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing and to have a positive customer service attitude.
  • Duties: Provide telephone and in-person support to users in the areas of directories, standard Windows desktop applications, and applications developed under this Contract or predecessors. Serves as the initial point of contact for troubleshooting hardware/software PC and printer problems.
  • Must have valid driver s license, vehicle insurance, and have a personal vehicle with valid registration.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience in PC support with at least one (1) year of experience in all the following:
    • Troubleshooting Windows PC hardware and software and Outlook.
    • Repair, install, upgrade, or reconfigure any of: PCs and laptops, stand-alone and networked printers, standalone and networked scanners, modems.
    • Installing and configuring any of the following Desktop O/S: Windows XP, VISTA Windows 7.
    • Upgrading Windows.
    • Business use of Microsoft Office 2007 Professional Suite.
    • Experience with Cabling (laying, Cat5 pinout).
    • Business use of McAfee Virus Scan, Adobe Acrobat, Photo Editor, Cisco VPN software and imaging software.
    • Prior use of Microsoft Outlook 2003 or greater at prior employment as described in individual s resume.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MCSA: Windows 7 or 8 certification
  • LANDesk Administration experience
  • Experience assigning and decommissioning access to network accounts
  • Experience installing and configuring both Server O/S: Windows 2003 and 2008
